Santiago de Chile, April 10 (RHC)-- The Chilean film, "Mirada Incendiada," based on the so-called Quemados Case, has been released on digital platforms on the Internet, according to the official website of the film.

"Mirada Incendiada" by filmmaker Tatiana Gaviola tells the story of the last months of life of photographer Rodrigo Rojas de Negri -- along with Carmen Gloria Quintana, who was seriously injured -- was burned alive by members of the military dictatorship during a protest against Augusto Pinochet.

"It made an impact that July 2, 1986, when we learned of their story.  Two young people, 18 and 19 years old, had been burned.  It was a brutal image, which I think marked us all and was a scar on the body of Chile," the filmmaker told local media.

The feature film is based on research into the historical context and interviews with witnesses to the events and acquaintances of the young photographer, to create a story with all the validity of the violation of human rights in the South American nation.

"History must be reconstructed, we must keep it in mind and confront it with what we are living, because it is not possible that human rights continue to be violated and that an entire society continues to be violated," said Gaviola.

"Today we have other vulnerable, damaged and lost views, such as those of Gustavo Gatica and Fabiola Campillai, and so many people who have lost their vision.  Damage has been done to many young people in the streets," he added in the interview to the news media.

The crime occurred on July 2, 1986 when a group of soldiers commanded by officer Pedro Fernández Dittus, who was patrolling the streets during a day of protest, intercepted, beat, sprayed with gasoline and burned two young people: Carmen Gloria Quintana, who managed to survive, and photographer Rodrigo Rojas de Negri.
