Quito, April 11 (RHC)-- The candidate of the Union for Hope (UNES), Andres Arauz, congratulated Guillermo Lasso for his victory in Ecuador's presidential elections and reiterated that the political project is permanent because it defends the life of Ecuadorians.

"I will call Mr. Lasso to congratulate him for the electoral triumph.  Today we demonstrate our electoral convictions (...) we have to build consensus.  This is an electoral defeat, but not a political or moral defeat," said Arauz.

The UNES candidate urged Lasso to respect political differences.  "I invite Guillermo Lasso to respect the rule of law and not to imprison Ecuadorians who think differently (...) We have to be one country," he added.

"Our project is for life and it is through the path of organization and construction of a better future for our country (...) We will be working every day to defend the interests of the majorities, to ensure that our Constitution is respected, Arauz added.

In view of the more than 4 million votes, Arauz emphasized that he will accompany all the popular sectors in their struggles for the vindication of their rights.  "This candidacy achieved in a prospective way to reconstitute the bonds of progressivism with the social organizations, we are going to dedicate ourselves to continue weaving bonds of unity," he emphasized.
