According to reports from the organizers, the protests were held in 200 cities inside and outside Brazil

Brasilia, May 30 (RHC)-- Another day of demonstrations against the government of Jair Bolsonaro was experienced this Saturday in Brazil when tens of thousands of people took to the streets of major cities convened by social organizations to current right-wing government.

The organization Frente Brasil Sin Miedo affirmed that mobilizations took place in 170 Brazilian cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Recife or Belo Horizonte, to which must be added events in nine other countries.

The spokesman of the Central Única de Trabalhadores (CUT), Douglas Izzo, asserted that the demonstrators are in the streets for "Out with Bolsonaro", not only for the crimes of responsibility he has committed by not preparing the country to fight COVID-19 and organizing vaccination, but also against the government's policy.

The demonstrators demanded the far-right president to accelerate the vaccination process and to increase the amount of aid so that the poorest, those most affected by the pandemic, have a "dignified" income to face the crisis that came with the COVID-19 pandemic.

With masks and anti-government placards, the demonstrators also called for a halt to the privatization of state enterprises and an end to budget cuts in universities and, in general, in the educational sector.

Large banners with the phrases "Out with Bolsonaro!"  "Vaccine for all now!  "Bolsonaro genocidal" were the common denominator in the marches, as well as posters in remembrance of the 460,000 deaths and more than 16.3 million contagions that have made Brazil one of the countries most affected by COVID-19.

The marches started early in cities such as Brasilia (capital), Rio de Janeiro, Belém and Recife.  In the afternoon, demonstrations are scheduled in other cities such as Curitiba, Manaus and Fortaleza, as well as in Sao Paulo, Brazil's most populated city, where the largest concentration will take place.

Some demonstrators in Pernambuco suffered eye injuries from rubber bullets fired to disperse the marches by the Military Police, according to complaints from the demonstrators, the agents also used pepper spray and made dozens of arrests.

The mobilizations also seek to accelerate the investigations currently being carried out by a Senate commission on possible government omissions in the management of the pandemic, although the chances of impeachment against the fascist president are still far off.

The commission, created at the request of the opposition, which has seven of its eleven members, is trying to clarify whether the government bears any responsibility for the lack of control of the health crisis in Brazil, which, according to the report, is already one of the three nations most affected by the pandemic, together with the United States and India, and is threatened with a third wave.
