La Paz, June 13 (RHC)-- A Peruvian judge will analyze on Monday, June 21st, the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office against Popular Force candidate Keiko Fujimori to return her to provisional prison, pending a decision on whether to open a trial against her for alleged money laundering.

Judge Víctor Zúñiga granted the request presented this week by anti-corruption prosecutor José Domingo Pérez, who is in charge of investigating the case.    The prosecutor's request came after proving that Keiko Fujimori had contact during the electoral campaign with witnesses in the investigation, one of the prohibitions imposed within the conditional freedom granted to her in 2020.

The prosecutor's request to revoke Keiko Fujimori's appearance with restrictions for pre-trial detention, who is being investigated for alleged money laundering and other crimes, will be heard this Monday, June 21, at 15:00 hours.

According to the anti-corruption prosecutor, Keiko Fujimori committed the infraction that merits her imprisonment when she met with Miguel Torres, leader of her Popular Force party, although she claims that she is not a witness in the open case for covering up electoral contributions received secretly.

Last April, Judge Zúñiga authorized Fujimori, by exception, to travel around the country to campaign for last Sunday's ballot.  The Public Prosecutor's Office requested at least 30 years and 10 months in prison for the daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori and different sentences for 41 other defendants.

Keiko Fujimori already spent 15 months in pre-trial detention between 2018 and 2020.
