La Paz, July 17 (RHC)-- The Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, reported on the formation of a broad front of media in order to combat disinformation among the peoples of the region.

"We have formed a united front to combat disinformation, because on our side is the truth, is the spirit of peace, of dialogue. We are in permanent session with all the public media of the Alliance with the purpose of dismantling these matrices, and prevent this type of attacks with already known interests from succeeding," said Llorenti.

The official explained that the aggressions perpetrated through the media and social networks are aimed at generating chaos in Cuba, with the purpose of justifying a humanitarian intervention.  

During a virtual meeting with the presidents of public media that make up the Alliance, they affirmed that such actions have the same purposes and tactics used recently against Nicaragua and Venezuela, as well as in Bolivia during the 2019 coup d'état.

Llorenti ratified ALBA's solidarity with Cuba, expressed by the governments and peoples of ALBA-TCP, as well as by social organizations in the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia.

The Secretary also noted that while Cuba was sending doctors to Bolivia, former Argentinean President Mauricio Macri was sending "weapons for the dictatorship to consolidate a coup d'état" in that South American nation.

ALBA-TCP has promoted various initiatives to counteract campaigns against progressive governments in the region, making visible denunciations such as the imposition of unilateral coercive measures in violation of international law against Cuba and Venezuela by the U.S. government.
