Brasilia, August 11 (RHC)-- Brazilian parliamentarians have raised strong objections to the  deployment of military troops and war tanks, before the plenary in the House that ended up approving a series of neoliberal measures.

In the midst of the warlike display, the lawmakers expressed their rejection with banners and said it was a clear move to intimidate the decision on the defense of workers' rights, as well as the possibility of changing the voting modality from electronic to manual.

Local media described the parade of tanks, armored personnel carriers and amphibious vehicles, as a form of intimidation hours before a vote for what would be a political strategy of President Bolsonaro in view of the decline in the polls for the 2022 elections.

After the parade, the Chamber ended up approving an economic package consisting of informal contracts for young people starting in the labor market.  The legislation implies that they will not be entitled to vacations, guaranteed funds, or Christmas bonuses.

In the midst of unfavorable governmental management to counteract the COVID-19 pandemic, Brazil's president has insisted in recent weeks on using ballots for the 2022 elections, based on accusations (not on presentation of legal evidence) of fraud in Brazil's electronic voting system.

The congressional debate is also focused on the discussion of other topics, among them the regulation of the use of artificial intelligence, the principles, rights and duties for the development of technology in the country and the work proposals for the Brazilian Law of Internet Freedom and Transparency, among other legislative projects.
