Caracas, August 25 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia held on Tuesday a working meeting with the Nicaraguan ambassador accredited to the Bolivarian nation, Yaosca Calderon.

In a stataement after the meeting, held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre in Caracas, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that relations of cooperation and brotherhood between the two countries were confirmed.

"We accompanied Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia to a meeting with Yaosca Calderon, ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua in our country, with whom we reviewed various issues of binational interest," the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry's Deputy Minister for Latin America, Rander Peña, said on his Twitter social network account.

The deputy foreign minister stressed that both the head of Venezuelan diplomacy and the Nicaraguan ambassador consolidated "the mutual defense of the sovereignty and self-determination of our peoples."

The government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has in recent months expressed its solidarity with Nicaragua in the face of the application of unilateral coercive measures by the United States and the European Union.
