Caracas, November 22 (RHC)-- The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, praised on Monday the peaceful participation of voters in the regional elections, where the Great Patriotic Pole won 18 of the 23 governorships in dispute.

"The message that the people sent to the world is of deep peaceful, democratic and constitutional conviction.  Within the Constitution everything, outside of it nothing," emphasized the parliament leader.

Alluding to the conviction of the popular sectors, Rodriguez stessed that the violent ones were the defeated ones of the day.   Those who called for invasions, propitiated a military coup in 2019, those who propitiated an armed incursion, were registered, were candidates, and the people gave them a message of rejection", stated the head of the Venezuelan National Assembly.

However, the President of the Assembly reminded that the minority that voted for the opposition demonstrated their rejection to fascism.  "The minority that voted yesterday for the opposition did not vote for those leaderships, they preferred to vote for people far away from violence," he added.

"An opposition option is appearing, different from the Mesa de Unidad Democrática (MUD), which is far from any extremist and adventurous way out, the new option sticks to constitutionality," clarified Rodriguez.

An example of the population's rejection of extremist sectors aroused in Caracas, where Guanipa (Juan Guaidó's ally) only obtained 11 percent of the votes, coming in third place.  In view of the challenges after the election results, Rodriguez pointed out that changes and government programs must be deepened, "this obliges us to continue with the changes and comply with what was proposed during the electoral campaign", he added.

"Thanks to the voters, to the National Electoral Council, to its five electoral rectors and its officials who were deployed in the 335 municipalities of the country (...) I thank the Armed Forces who guaranteed the free development of the elections, through the Plan República", highlighted Rodríguez.

"The spokespersons of the United States that made statements against the elections before the results were known is because they knew of the defeat they were about to face," said Rodriguez.

Likewise, the President of the National Assembly indicated that the triumph of the GPP in Táchira represents a hope to achieve peace.  "The people of Táchira were wise in electing Freddy Bernal, because the guarimbas had an epicenter in San Cristóbal and people died, they had no tranquility", he expressed.

"Extremists used the state of Táchira for incursions against the territorial integrity of Venezuela (...) When Los Rastrojos (Colombian criminal group) displaced Guaidó, they did it from Táchira to Cúcuta", stated Rodríguez.
