Caracas, November 23 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Felix Plasencia, rejected the interference of the government of the United States in an attempt to delegitimize the regional elections that took place last Sunday in the South American country.

"The Government of Venezuela rejects the interfering pronouncement of the U.S. Government that in its systematic practice of disregarding electoral processes of sovereign countries, tries, unsuccessfully, to discredit the past elections of November 21, 2021 in Venezuela," the foreign minister said.

Through an official statement, the Venezuelan minister recalled that the political organizations had all the guarantees during the elections, which also counted with the presence of international observers.

"The U.S. questions elections that counted with the accompaniment of more than 300 international observers, the participation of 87 different political forces, and the participation of more than 67,000 opposition candidates," Plasencia stated.

The top diplomat agreed with the statements made by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, who asserted that the losers on election day were those who incited violence and fascism, "as the results are made known, it is sufficiently clear that the big loser is US imperialism and its allies in Venezuela who suffered a resounding defeat for inciting the application of illegal coercive measures against the population", he added.

The declarations of Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia come after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken indicated that the regional elections in Venezuela were "flawed," despite the fact that the oppositions participated and the international observers assessed the electoral system of the South American country.

Earlier, Jorge Rodríguez emphasized that the results of the elections reflect a punishment to the small opposition sector that incited military invasions and carried out the illegal sanctions against citizens.  "Those who encouraged that way received their dose of loneliness. If Guaidó was out of a job last September 6, 2020, now on November 21, 2021 he is out of politics," he added.

The president of the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE), Pedro Calzadilla, revealed this Monday the second report of the results of the elections, where he pointed out that with the transmission of 99.20 percent of the records, the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) obtained 18 of the 23 governorships in dispute, while the Democratic Unity Table (MUD) obtained two and one for another party.
