Bogota, July 14 (Xinhua-RHC) -- The Colombian Army said on Sunday that 12 members of the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were captured in a joint operation in the country's northwestern Antioquia province.

According to Caracol Radio, the rebels were captured in a military operation aimed at neutralizing the leader of the FARC's northwest front, known as "Pastor Alape."
Authorities also seized eight rifles, one machine gun, 749 bullets of different calibers and four hand grenades, as well as communications devices, including two laptops, two cellphones and seven USB flash memory disks.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos is undergoing peace talks with the FARC, the country's largest rebel group, seeking to end a five-decade-long civil conflict.
