No member of the Bolivian government will participate in the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani said Monday
Sucre, June 6 (RHC)-- No member of the Bolivian government will participate in the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani said Monday -- and only Bolivia's ambassador to the Organization of American States, Héctor Arce, will attend the event.
"It has been confirmed that the President will not participate in this Summit of the Americas because countries that do not necessarily agree with the ideology of the United States have been excluded," Mamani told the press.
He added that for Bolivia: "a Summit of the Americas has to be of all the Americas -- of all the countries of the Americas -- and in this context, we believe that this Summit of the Americas has asked for its essence of political discussion."
Bolivian President Luis Arce had warned in advance that if the unilateral U.S. decision to exclude Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua was maintained, he would not attend the meeting.
