Quito, July 27 (RHC)-- The Colombian Ombudsman's Office has denounced the murder of two Ecuadorian Indigenous people in the village of Carrizal, Remedios municipality, located in the department of Antioquia.  "We sympathize with their families and will coordinate special attention through our Delegate of Ethnic Groups," the entity expressed on its Twitter account.

The bodies of the Kichwa Indigenous people were identified as Franklin Armando Tocagon, 26 years old; and Miguel Quilumbaqui Sanchela, 70 years old, who worked as merchants.

Local organizations had reported the Ecuadorian Indians as missing since the beginning of July when they were detained by a group outside the village of El Puná.  However, due to the presence of irregular armed groups frequenting the area, authorities are not entirely sure if the killers belong to the group that held them.

Due to the heavy clashes between armed groups, which are affecting the Carrizal district in particular, the communities are planning to create a humanitarian shelter to which only residents and neighbors can have access.
