Bogota, August 4 (PL-RHC) -- The Colombian central department of Tolima is on maximum alert, due to the forest fires recorded in recent weeks that have devastated more than 1,840 hectares in that region.
According to a report by the station CM& Television, the fires affected 33 of the 47 municipalities in Tolima.
Friday, four other emergencies were reported in the sector Caracolito, between Ibague, the capital, and San Luis, and in the rural area of the municipalities Armero Guayabal, Nata-gaima and Coy-aima, the source said.
The harsh drought, which has affected several Colombian regions, and the temperatures recorded in municipalities in the south and north of Tolima, which reached 41 degrees Celsius, keep authorities on alert.
The water level in the rivers Sla-daña and Magadalena continues to decrease.
