Gaza City, November 4 (RHC)-- The Israeli military has carried out a round of airstrikes against the Gaza Strip, as the Tel Aviv regime continues with its acts of aggression on the besieged Palestinian coastal enclave.   The military claimed in a statement that it targeted in the early hours of Friday morning a Hamas underground facility, which the resistance movement used for the production of rocket materials in the central Gaza Strip.

It published a satellite photo of what it said was the site, showing an area near several buildings and agricultural plots on the northwest edge of the al-Maghazi refugee camp.  It said it was the third such facility hit since April.

The Palestinian Shehab news agency said a “resistance site” in al-Maghazi had been hit. There were no immediate reports of injuries.  Pictures shared on social media showed fireballs and smoke in Gaza from the airstrikes. Successive strikes could be seen hitting the same area repeatedly in unverified video footage as jets were heard screaming overhead.

The attacks came after four rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip toward the Israeli-occupied
territories on Thursday.  The Israeli military asserted that one rocket was intercepted by its so-called Iron Dome missile system over a border town, and the other three fell short in the Strip.  There were no reports of injuries or damage following the rocket attacks.

The rocket fire came hours after a member of Islamic Jihad resistance group was killed during an Israeli military rain on Jenin refugee camp in the occupied northern West Bank city of Jenin.  The Gaza-based Palestinian group identified Farouk Salameh as a “commander” in its ranks.

Hazem Qassem, a Hamas spokesman, condemned in the strongest terms the latest Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, terming the attacks as “an act of naked aggression and an extension of vicious onslaught against the Palestinian nation.”  “The Zionist terrorism will not manage to stop the growing revolution of Palestinians,” he said.

Tensions have recently soared in the West Bank recently as Israeli forces have been conducting overnight raids and killings mainly in the cities of Jenin and Nablus, where new groups of Palestinian resistance fighters have been formed.

Israel has killed more than 170 Palestinians since the start of 2022 in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, including 26 since the start of October, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a new report yesterday.

Local and international rights groups have condemned Israel’s excessive use of force and “shoot-to-kill policy” against Palestinians.
