Lula affirmed that his government once again took care of the Brazilian people

Havana, April 10 (RHC) - On the occasion of the 100th day of his third government, president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva affirmed that Brazil once again took care of what was urgent and could not be postponed: the people.

During the speech before ministers and authorities, the founder of the Workers' Party indicated that the South American giant once again looked to the future. This means, he specified, "investing in roads, railways, ports, airports, power generation and transmission, connectivity, expansion of the pre-salt (oil reserves), solar and wind energy, among other initiatives that will put Brazil back on the right track.

According to Lula, a truly developed country cannot be built on the ruins of hunger, attacks on democracy, lack of respect for human rights and income, race and gender inequalities.

For the ex-unionist, it was 100 days of a lot of work. “We have another 1,360 days to continue rebuilding this country. And we are already on our way," he continued.

He gave his word that the construction of railways, essential for the integration of the country and the flow of agricultural production, will be accelerated.

In urban infrastructure, Lula promised to invest in improving the housing and living conditions of people who live in favelas, stilt houses (rustic dwellings on wooden logs in the water) and other precarious places. He explained that the My House, My Life housing program will hire two million homes and the new sanitation framework, approved last week, eliminates the ties that has so far prevented investment in the sector.

The president assured that Brazil will once again be a world reference in sustainability and confronting climate change, and "will meet the goals of reducing carbon emissions and zero deforestation."

He insisted on always saying that governing is caring for the people and "making sure that every Brazilian man and woman can eat three meals a day," which is his obsession.

The president stated that the main message is the following: “get ready, because we have to work a lot more. I want to end by quoting another phrase, which translates our feeling at the end of these first 100 days: Brazil once again had a future. And that's just the beginning," he stressed.
