Mexico City, June 5 (RHC)-- The National Regeneration Movement (Morena), of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has won the governorship of the State of Mexico with its candidate Delfina Gómez.  The Mexican state -- with over 17,000,000 inhabitants -- is the most populated of the Latin American country.

The Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM), upon releasing the results of the quick count, reported that Gómez had an upper limit of 54.2 percent of the votes cast and a lower limit of 52.1 percent.

The candidate Alejandra del Moral, from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), a political group that had held power for more than 90 years in the State of Mexico, meanwhile, registered a percentage of votes of 45.2 and 43 percent, respectively.

After the dissemination of these data, Del Moral offered a press conference where he acknowledged that the preliminary results "do not favor me," while he sent congratulations "to professor Delfina Gómez, who will be the next governor of the State of Mexico."

IEEM president, Amalia Pulido, said in a press conference that citizen participation was between 48.7 and 50.2 percent of the electoral roll.
