Bogota, June 7 (RHC)-- Labor unions, unions and social organizations in Colombia are marching this Wednesday in the main cities of the country to express their support to President Gustavo Petro and to the health, labor and pension reforms promoted by the Colombian government.
President Petro confirmed on Tuesday before his participation in the mobilizations to be held in the Colombian capital. Petro invited those who voted for change in Colombia to march in all municipalities of the country, not only for the reforms but also against impunity.
Former senator Gustavo Bolívar, from the Historic Pact, considered the demonstrations an opportunity to reaffirm the proposals for change and support the head of state.
The mobilization day was announced last May 31st by the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Colombia (CUT), the Confederación de Trabajadores de Colombia (CTC) and the Federación Colombiana de Trabajadores de la Educación (Fecode).
In announcing the mobilizations, the president of the CUT, Francisco Maltés recalled that Colombia voted for the changes. The call of the CUT and other union groups was joined by congressmen, students, women, political parties and other sectors of the country that voted for the government and oppose destabilizing actions by right-wing sectors.
