Brasilia, August 18 (RHC)-- In Brazil, hacker Walter Delgatti confessed Thursday that the former president of that nation, Jair Bolsonaro, suggested affecting the electronic system of the South American country.

According to the hacker, Bolsonaro wanted to use this hacking to demonstrate the alleged fragility of the electronic voting system in the last elections.  Delgatti affirmed before the parliamentary commission investigating the assaults on the national powers on January 8, that the former head of state even promised him a pardon in case he was caught carrying out these illegal tasks.

The computer expert explained that they suggested to him to create a fake electronic ballot box to be used as propaganda, in which a voter would vote for one and the suffrage would be pointed to another.  According to the hacker, Bolsonaro and his advisors said they would use this as support for the former president's campaign against the electronic voting system.

In addition, Delgatti assured that the far-right congresswoman Carla Zambelli was the intermediary in the meetings.  He also added that after the meetings, Bolsonaro sent him to the Ministry of Defense five times to discuss the issue with experts on the subject from this department.

Former president Jair Bolsonaro was judged by the Supreme Electoral Court and sentenced last June to the loss of his political rights for eight years for his unfounded campaign against electronic voting.
