Brasilia, August 19 (RHC)-- The leader of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) of Brazil, Joao Pedro Stédile, said that Latin America is going through a crisis of capitalism and the bourgeoisie seeks to protect its privileges in the face of this problem.

In an interview in the podcast "Los Nadies," conducted by the president of teleSUR, Patricia Villegar, Stédile recalled that these forces of capital have dealt four anti-democratic blows against the people and progressive movements in Brazil in the last six years.

Joao Pedro Stedile listed the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff without any reason, put in place a puppet government with Michel Temer, the imprisonment of the now president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and imposed a fascist regime of a "crazy captain named (Jair) Bolsonaro". 

Then in that period we managed to resist; the popular movements were the first to be in the trenches to seek the release of Lula and to recover democracy in Brazil, he pointed out.  

The capitalists in times of crisis continue to take over public lands, indigenous lands, because they are interested in privatizing the goods of nature, and accumulating, not producing food, but accumulating, privately taking over the goods of nature.  That is the class struggle," he explained.

For them, (capitalism and the bourgeoisie) the Landless movement and the Landless is a danger because we would be the permanent threat to prevent them from continuing with these crimes and privately seize common goods, to burn the forest and to use all the environmental criminals that produce this climate imbalance that we all suffer.

"The people give us the energy and the certainty that one day we are going to defeat the fascists, the capitalists, the imperialists, and we have a great Latin American Homeland."
