Guatemala City, September 3 (RHC)-- The plenary of magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Guatemala stopped this Sunday until the end of the electoral event, that is to say next October 31st, the resolution of the Registry of Citizens that had temporarily suspended the political party Movimiento Semilla.

The highest electoral body urges the three branches of government to "continue to ensure respect for the popular will expressed at the polls, the integrity, purity and effectiveness of the electoral process".

Movimiento Semilla is the political party that nominated the now president elect, Bernardo Arévalo, but the awning had been suspended last August 28 by the Registrar of Citizens of the same TSE.

This ruling gave way to the Congressional Board of Directors disowning Arévalo's party two days later.   The TSE's decision was made official by means of a memorial in which Arévalo's party is kept alive while the electoral process remains in force.

The revocation of the suspension was signed by the five magistrates of the TSE, who initially on August 28 had dissociated themselves from the decision of the Registrar of Citizens, one of the officials in charge of the entity.
