Poverty in Uruguay increases and stands at 10.4 %.

Montevideo, September 29 (RHC)-- Poverty in Uruguay increased and stood at 10.4 percent during the first half of this year, according to the report published Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of that country.

The report nots that out of every 1,000 households at least two do not exceed the income necessary to cover their basic food needs.   According to INE, the poverty rate in the last half of 2022 closed at 9.1 percent, which represents an increase of 1.3 percentage points in the first half of 2023.

The poverty line in a one-person household located in the capital Montevideo stood in January 2023 at 18,620 pesos (approximately US $484), in a two-person household at 33,718 pesos (US $875) and at 47,809 pesos (US $1,240) in a three-person household.
