Caracas, October 18 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil announced on Wednesday that the 30 tons of humanitarian aid promised by the Venezuelan Government are already on their way to the Gaza Strip.

"Fulfilling the instruction of President Nicolas Maduro, we have sent to Egypt a shipment of more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid that will soon arrive in Gaza to alleviate the serious humanitarian situation of its population after 10 days of siege and bombings," the official wrote in his X account.

The donation, which was delivered to the Red Crescent, consists of: oil, rice, drinking water, first aid kits, as well as personal hygiene kits, medical surgical material, mattresses, electric plant, water pump, gloves, among other basic necessities.

"This is a first shipment that the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has committed to. We are making a really important effort to guarantee a constant supply of the main elements for life," the foreign minister told his country's media.

According to statements issued by the Venezuelan Government in previous days, this first donation constitutes a plan of direct and constant support to the Palestinian people. The determination to provide humanitarian support came after President Nicolás Maduro held a conversation with his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmud Abbas.

The authorities of the Caribbean country have already requested in several scenarios that Israel make a ceasefire. "A bombardment of the civilian population cannot be tolerated," Gil noted.
