United Nations, November 29 (Prensa Latina) -- The Palestinian ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, today considered the destruction of that State as the priority of the Israeli authorities and their current aggression.

"For the Israeli government the priority is not security, it is the destruction of the Palestinian nation," Mansour told the General Assembly.

No recent conflict has seen so many children, civilians, journalists, UN personnel, humanitarians and doctors killed at this rate, the diplomat lamented.

During the plenary session convened by the forum to address the Palestinian issue, the representative insisted that no generation of his countrymen has been spared the scourge of war.

Each of them has witnessed and endured horrors in their own flesh, an entire nation, for decades, has faced dispossession, displacement, denial of rights, destruction and death, he remarked.

"There are no laws, no morals, no principles in this world that can justify this abhorrent and inhuman reality; it is one that shocks the human conscience and demands global action for justice," the UN representative added.

The ambassador called for turning the current negotiated truce between Hamas and Israel into a permanent cease-fire.   The massacres of Palestinian children, women and men cannot resume. Human conscience cannot bear it," he stressed.

"International law, but also the norms of humanity, demand that we act to stop this war against innocent civilians and save human lives, that we act for humanitarian aid and access to the entire Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced without delay, an end to the siege, and that we act to demand accountability," he added.

"Nothing can ever justify war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide," stressed Mansour.

The political forum is hosting a debate on the Palestinian question on Tuesday, a day before the International Day of Solidarity with the People of that occupied territory.

The General Assembly will also vote on a resolution expressing grave concern over the stalemate in the peace process and negotiations on the Syrian Golan.

The text insists on Israel's non-compliance with the provisions of the Security Council in this regard.

The continued occupation of the Syrian Golan and its de facto annexation constitute an obstacle to the achievement of a just and lasting peace in the region, it further recognizes.
