Caracas, February 9 (RHC)-- Venezuela's Vice President for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, showed the country's policies and programs in the food field to the United Nations special rapporteur on the right to food, Michael Fakhri.

According to the Minister of People's Power for Science and Technology, the Scientific-Peasant Alliance stands out among the food initiatives in order to promote agro-ecological production and food sovereignty.

Jiménez also highlighted the alternative flour projects, the School Food Program (PAE), as well as the nutritional research projects.

Earlier in the day, the official said that the Scientific-Peasants Alliance will allow the conditioning of seeds with biological products for the cultivation of 30,000 hectares during the 2024 winter planting cycle.  "It is a strategy to favor the transition of communities of small and medium producers from conventional agriculture to an alternative, sustainable and environmentally friendly model at the national level," she said.

On Thursday, Venezuela's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, who will remain in the Bolivarian nation until February 14.
