Caracas, March 13 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan government reiterated this Tuesday that it will close its airspace to Argentina, until it compensates the damages caused by the seizure of a plane of the state company Conviasa, which was held in Buenos Aires since June 2022 and was sent to the United States last month.
Venezuela denounced that Argentina intends to ignore the consequences of its acts of piracy and robbery against Caracas, which were repeatedly warned before the criminal act committed in relation to the hijacking of an Emtrasur aircraft.

"Mr. Manuel Adorni (spokesman for ultra-right president Javier Milei) plans to ignore the consequences of his acts of piracy and theft against Venezuela, which were repeatedly warned before the criminal act committed against EMTRASUR," said the foreign minister.
"Venezuela exercises full sovereignty over its airspace, and reiterates that no aircraft, coming from or heading to Argentina, will be able to fly over our territory, until our company is duly compensated for the damages caused, after the illegal actions carried out, only for the purpose of pleasing their northern tutors."
This Tuesday, at a press conference, Adorni announced the initiation of diplomatic actions against Venezuela after the government of Nicolás Maduro banned Argentine aircraft from flying over the South American country's airspace.
Last month, Venezuela expressed its strongest protest and denounced once again before the International Community, the violation of the rules of International Law by the U.S. and Argentine governments.
In this sense, it underlined that both countries "perpetrated the theft of the Emtrasur aircraft, in flagrant disregard of the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Convention", which was signed in Chicago on December 7, 1944. Venezuela stressed that with this action, aeronautical safety was put at risk and described it as an "act of piracy", which can be considered the most "miserable in the history of the region".
Venezuela will implement all legal, diplomatic and political measures to safeguard its sovereignty rights and the defense of its patrimonial assets.
For his part, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro also denounced the vandalism to which the plane was subjected in U.S. territory.
