Washington, May 21 (RHC)-- U.S. President Joe Biden has vowed to continue providing “ironclad” support for the Israeli regime as the latter presses on with its Washington-backed genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
Biden made the remarks on Monday, addressing a Jewish American Heritage Month event at the White House.
The war began in early October in response to a retaliatory operation staged by Gaza’s resistance groups. The onslaught has claimed the lives of at least 35,562 people across the besieged coastal sliver and driven around 80% of the territory's population of 2.3 million from their homes.
"What's happening is not genocide," Biden asserted.
The comments came, although, the International Criminal Court’s Prosecutor Karim Khan has applied for arrest warrants against Israeli war criminals, including prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli regime also faces legal proceedings at a different tribunal, the UN’s International Court of Justice, which is dealing with accusations against the regime by South Africa that has billed the Israeli war as genocidal.
The U.S. president went on to say: “We want [the Gaza-based resistance movement] Hamas defeated. We're working with Israel to make that happen."
Since the onset of the genocidal war of aggression, Washington has equipped Tel Aviv with thousands of tons of lethal military aid. It has also struck down several United Nations Security Council resolutions that have called for implementation of an immediate ceasefire in the brutal military onslaught.
