Caracas, June 1 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil has denounced that the United States intends to give instructions to his country regarding the presidential elections scheduled for July 28th.
The foreign minister's response mentions the statement by the U.S. State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, about Venezuela's decision to revoke the invitation to electoral observers from the European Union.
"The Electoral Branch has spoken strongly and will not allow disrespect from any satellite organization of Washington. It is time for the U.S. to desist from its constant attempts to sabotage our country and our institutions. The surnames that aspire tutelage will not return in Venezuela!”, expressed Foreign Minister Gil through a publication on the social network X.
Later, he pointed out that the State Department official is perhaps used to giving instructions to the European Union and stated that Venezuela has been free and sovereign for more than 200 years. "Bolivarian democracy is solid and exemplary, we could teach the United States a lot about holding truly free elections," added the Venezuelan foreign minister.
Last Wednesday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela rejected the interventionist attitude of the EU in matters that, such as the presidential elections, are the exclusive responsibility of the South American nation and its people.
The president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, repudiated "the insolent statement from the European Union" on the electoral oversight program, a statement that he described as "a new interventionist act that seeks to interfere in the decisions of the Venezuelan National Electoral Council."
Elvis Amoroso stated that "no foreign organization has the power to decide on the electoral oversight program." He recalled that he revoked the invitation to the EU to participate in that process due to its hostile attitude and demanded that it lift its unilateral restrictive measures if it wishes to participate in the electoral processes of the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez.
He also accused the EU of continuing to behave as a biased and aggressive actor, disrupting the electoral processes, while maintaining "the illegal and illegitimate application of coercive, unilateral and genocidal measures, with the sole objective of causing harm to the Venezuelan population."
