Gaza City, July 14 (RHC)-- Israeli forces have targeted a UN-run school for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, killing more than a dozen and injuring many more.

The UNRWA-run school, which has been housing hundreds of displaced people, was struck on Sunday, as Israel continues to systematically target shelters, schools, and UNRWA facilities across the besieged strip in its tenth-month genocidal war.

The Gaza Government Media Office said that the attack on the Abu Oreiban School in Nuseirat refugee camp killed 15 people and left 80 wounded.  “This massacre comes as a continuation of genocide being perpetrated by the occupation army against our Palestinian people for the tenth month in a row,” it said in a statement.

“We hold the Israeli occupation and the US administration fully responsible for the continuation of these massacres against the displaced and civilians,” the office added.

Earlier, Palestinian medical sources said at least 15 civilians were killed and 70 wounded in the Israeli bombardment of the school.

Hamas said in a statement that "the criminal Zionist occupation army continues to escalate its massacres against defenceless civilians displaced in shelter centers."

"The latest being the barbaric bombing of UNRWA’s Abu Oreiban School this afternoon in the Nuseirat refugee camp; resulting in a death toll of about 15 martyrs and dozens of wounded," it said.

"This is an extension of the ongoing war of extermination against our defenseless civilians and the targeting of women and children, which is a blatant Zionist challenge to the international community, and a disregard for the UN demands that stressed the necessity of stopping the aggression against our people," it stated.

"The attempts of terrorist Netanyahu and his Nazi-like government to subjugate our people through this level of unprecedented crime will fail," Hamas said in the statement.

Palestine ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot said, “Massacres every day everywhere in Gaza. Today Israel bombs yet another UN school sheltering families in Nuseirat refugee camp, dozens killed and wounded.”

“This is the result of Israel’s impunity and international inaction,” he tweeted.

Also last Saturday, Israel's attack on a UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp resulted in the deaths of at least 16 Palestinians seeking shelter, leaving many more injured and trapped under the rubble.

Meanwhile, 16 Palestinians have been killed in overnight strikes in Gaza City in the north.

The latest strikes come a day after Israel carried out air strikes on the al-Mawasi refugee camp near the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, killing at least 90 Palestinians including women and children, and injuring more than 300 others.

Many are still missing following the heinous massacre which was carried out in an area designated by the regime as a so-called “safe” zone.

Separately on Sunday, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has hailed a shooting and ramming operation in Ramla, occupied territories.

The resistance group went on to say that “the heroic and complex ramming operation” was a response to the brutal genocide and heinous massacres committed against the Palestinians people in Gaza as well as campaigns of terror and repression in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds.

Hamas further stressed that the escalating crimes of the occupying regime against unarmed civilians will only increase Palestinians’ determination to confront and intensify operations against Israel in every part of the occupied lands until all their rights are fully restored and the “fascist occupation” is eradicated from their land.

Earlier in the day, a vehicle-ramming-shooting operation took place in southern Tel Aviv, injuring four Israelis, including two soldiers.

According to Israeli media, the incident in Ramla involved both a vehicle ramming and a shooting that targeted regime soldiers. Israeli forces were dispatched to the scene immediately following the attack.

The attack came in light of the horrific massacres being committed in Gaza, most recently the one in al-Mawasi which has drawn widespread condemnation.
