Sabotage continues to disrupt rail traffic in France

Paris, July 28 (RHC) The high-speed train (TGV) service in France is making significant progress, but disruptions continue after yesterday's sabotage of fiber optic cables.

According to the SNCF, the public operator of the rail network, two out of three TGVs will run during the day in the Brittany and Southwest sectors, eight out of ten in the North and normal activity in the East.

Hours before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there was an attack on the system of cables that guarantee the transmission of information to the drivers, with the destruction of these elements that were cut or burned.

The authorities estimate that 800 thousand users are affected, either by the cancellation or delay of trains, a situation that mainly affects French vacationers.

The Prime Minister (resigned), Gabriel Attal, announced a total mobilization in response to the sabotage and investigations to find and punish those responsible.

We are facing a prepared and coordinated operation with neuralgic points as target, which shows a knowledge of the targets to hit, warned to the press the official who, at the request of President Emmanuel Macron, keeps together with his cabinet basic functions until after Paris-2024 will be appointed a new prime minister.

According to the organizers, the criminal action had no particular consequences on the official start of the Olympic Games. (PL)
