Caracas, August 31 (RHC)-- Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, said that the electric sabotage perpetrated by the extreme right on Friday morning is being investigated, while declaring that justice cannot be delayed.

During the assessment made after the sabotage, the Venezuelan president stressed that “we are overcoming fascism and hatred, but justice cannot be delayed.  As head of state, on behalf of a people, I ask that justice be done against the material and intellectual perpetrators of this attack.  I ask for justice to consolidate peace.”

“The investigations have advanced and they will deepen,” said Nicolás Maduro.

After mentioning the background of this electrical system attack related to the elections of July 28th, Nicolas Maduro insisted that the mechanisms used to disable the Guri reservoir, which he considered the "heart of the electrical system," have been identified.

Recalling the warning given about destabilizing attempts before, during and after the elections of July 28th, the Venezuelan leader stressed that “there is a permanent conspiracy and attack by a fascist sector allied with the international right-wing led and financed by the American empire.”

While he categorized what happened this Friday as a fascist criminal attack, Maduro insisted that it was the most powerful attack they have planned to carry out.  He stressed that the objective was to destroy the Guri reservoir.

“It is a malicious attack, full of revenge, hatred that comes from the fascist currents who have taken over the political sectors that claimed to be political opposition and that the people already clearly identifies."

Nicolás Maduro pointed out that the protection systems we have built have worked. “We have preserved Guri,” he said while alerting that the generation systems had been attacked.

After thanking the entire people, Maduro said that “we have learned lessons,” referring to the 2019 attack against this reservoir and the harassment of the extreme right in the country along with its international accomplices.

“We know where the attacks come from.  This people has a gigantic wisdom to know what is to be done at every moment, at every juncture and circumstance,” he insisted.  And the Venezuelan president stressed that the attacks are conceived from Colombia by a sector linked to former presidents Álvaro Uribe and Iván Duque.

After also thanking for the moral and spiritual strength, he said that Venezuelans are better prepared and in better conditions than in 2019.  “The process of restoration (is) step by step and safe,” said the president after the activation of the mechanisms to counter criminal aggression against the National Electric Service.

Nicolás Maduro reported that the transport sector is active, while the supermarket sector is restored at more than 90 percent, the popular and municipal markets at 100 percent and commerce at almost 60 percent.

He mentioned that in Caracas, in the midst of the energy situation, a bone marrow transplant was performed.  In this regard, he thanked the medical staff, health workers and those who contributed to the continued functioning of the health care system.

For his part, the governor of Táchira state, Freddy Bernal, reported on the disbanding of a criminal gang that planned to carry out terrorist acts against the Regional and National Electric System.

The members of this gang were arrested at the Ureña substation, where they intended to exploit the transformers and cut off electricity in Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, Apure, Zulia and Yaracuy.
