Caracas, September 3 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has strongly denounced the coup attempt against the government of the progressive and revolutionary forces of Honduras, saying that it is also against the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

"I have been denouncing that there is an objective of the gringos which is to destroy CELAC," said the head of State, speaking on the program Con Maduro Más.

In this sense, he specified that the Honduran president not only leads the Central American country, but also presides over CELAC, a fundamental organization for the unity and independence of the region.

Therefore, he denounced that the United States intends to divide all of Latin America and the Caribbean, and consequently, make Celac disappear.

The Venezuelan president described the response offered by the popular forces of Honduras on Sunday as extraordinary.

"I can say, on behalf of the people of Venezuela, of the Bolivarian Government that I lead and of all the popular forces that we give all our support, backing and solidarity to President Xiomara Castro and the popular forces of Honduras," he said.
