Caracas, September 4 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Transport Minister Ramón Velásquez Araguayán reported on Tuesday that an act of sabotage was carried out at the Libertador Simón Bolívar station of the Ezequiel Zamora I Railway System, located in La Rinconada, where a fire broke out that was controlled by the Caracas Fire Department.

“There was a fire at the power plant.  We do not doubt that it was an act of sabotage because we have carried out maintenance on all the circuits, plants and structure of the railroad.  There is no doubt that it is an act of sabotage.  And we condemn from the Ministry of Popular Power for Transportation these acts that seek to affect the tranquility of the population,” said the minister to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

He said that this caused an impact on the trains that operate from La Rinconada to Valles del Tuy.  However, the service is being provided with complete normality at this time.

“We have controlled this fire in record time, which \ affected the tranquility of users of this multimodal transport,” he declared.

“Tbis is not the way to do politics, since these are mechanisms that disrupt the tranquility of a people and it is clear what direction we should take,” said Velásquez Araguayán.  He also said that authorities are carrying out all the necessary investigations to discover those responsible for the sabotage.

Although the situation caused concern, the underground transport system functioned normally from La Rinconada station to Valles del Tuy and vice versa.
