Gaza City, October 9 (RHC)-- The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip says at least 45 people have lost their lives and another 130 individuals sustained injuries over the last 24 hours in the coastal sliver, as the Israeli military continues to target residential buildings and infrastructure across the territory.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said nine members of the Farahat family were killed when an Israeli warplane bombed the house they were sheltering in at the Shuja'iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City.

Paramedics also recovered the bodies of three people, including a child, after Israeli military aircraft struck the house of the al-Jamal family at the Nuseirat refugee camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip.  A war-displaced family of four was also killed inside their tent in Nuseirat.  A family of four, one child included, was killed in a bombing of their home in the nearby Bureij refugee camp.

The ministry also announced the latest death toll of Israeli strikes in Gaza in its Wednesday statement, saying that at least 42,010 people have been killed in military offensives on Gaza ever since the occupying Israeli regime began its genocidal war there on October 7 last year.  Another 97,720 people have been wounded as well, according to the ministry.

A human rights organization warns that the Israeli regime is subjecting the northern part of the Gaza Strip to “one of the most violent campaigns of genocide."  A recent report published by the Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor also revealed that an estimated 10 percent of Gaza's population has been killed, injured, reported missing, or detained as a result of Israeli military assaults.

The report details the systematic acts of genocide committed in Gaza, such as the targeted killing of civilians in homes, shelters, displacement camps, and humanitarian-declared zones.  "Following the 7 October 2023 attack, Israel declared a state of war, with its President, Prime Minister, and other political and military leaders at the forefront. The declared aim was to eliminate Hamas, secure the release of hostages, and restore security. Thus began Operation Iron Swords, a brutal military offensive that intensified the suffering of Gaza’s civilians," the report said.
