Tehran, October 26 (RHC)-- The official Israeli broadcaster Kan said that official Israeli sources confirmed that Israel has begun its aggression against Iran.  Israeli media reported that Iranian power plants and camps were the target of the attack.

Al Mayadeen sources confirmed that Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports were not the target of any aggression.  The Israeli Army Radio published that Israeli and American anti-aircraft defense systems in the region are fully prepared.

After explosions were heard in Tehran and the media reported an Israeli aggression against Iran, the Israeli military command confirmed that they are carrying out attacks against “military targets” in Iran.

The Israeli military spokesman said there is no change in the instructions to Israeli settlers from this point on, however, he warned them and urged them to remain “alert and vigilant.”

It remains unclear what was intended in the Israeli aggression, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Tehran reported that there were no attacks on Imam Khomeini International Airport, nor on large energy facilities.

Iranian air defenses managed to intercept most of the Israeli aggressions.

The United States claimed it was not involved in the Israeli aggressions against Iran tonight, but announced that Israel "notified us in advance of its intention to launch aggressions against Iran."

The Israeli military announced attacks against what it claimed were military targets in Iran.  Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Tehran reported that the sounds of explosions were a result of air defense activity, adding that Israel attempted to attack three military bases near Tehran, but its attempts were thwarted.

The Tasnim news agency reports, citing its sources, that so far no projectiles have hit military centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the west and southwest of Tehran. Local media also indicate that Iranian air defense intercepted several air targets throughout the night.

In turn, Israeli media report that hundreds of planes and aircraft are participating in the operation, which is being carried out from an Israeli Air Force base. Likewise, Arab media, citing an Israeli military source, indicate that the attack is in its early stages.

According to the Israeli military, the Chief of the General Staff of Israel, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, is in command of the operation from the Air Force base at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, a US Department of Defense official told Al Jazeera that a squadron of F-16 fighter jets that has just arrived in the region is meant to protect US forces and “defend Israel.” Media reports indicate that Israel informed both the White House and the Pentagon in advance of its plans before launching the strikes against Iran.

According to Iran's security forces, the loud sounds heard by some people in the vicinity of Tehran were due to the activation of air defense systems.

Iran’s official IRNA news agency cited a security source as saying on Saturday morning some of the sounds heard in the capital were caused by “defense activity in Tehran, and the air defense was successful during this incident.”

The news agency said there were no reports of incidents that required assistance and that the situation at Mehrabad International Airport and the Imam Khomeini International Airport was “normal.”

IRNA said Iranian air defenses “successfully shot down adversarial targets in the airspace around Tehran province.”  Footage shared online captured what appeared to be interceptions over the Iranian capital.

Tasnim News Agency reported on Saturday morning that the situation was normal at Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport.  No missile strike or impact occurred on Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) military centers in the west and southwest of Tehran, the agency reported.

According to information obtained by the news agency, there has been no impact on IRGC military centers in the west or southwest of Tehran.

The sounds heard are related to the army’s air defenses engaging Israeli military actions in three areas around Tehran.
