Venezuela offers immediate aid to Central American countries affected by Sara

Caracas, November 17 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday saying that Caribbean country’s government will supply urgent aid to the nations affected in Central America after the passage of tropical storm Sara.

“The Bolivarian Government, makes available to the nations concerned and immediately to the government of President Xiomara Castro of Honduras, the technical and human capabilities of the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force” multidisciplinary team, whose main function is to promote the mitigation of the effects of natural disasters in Venezuela and other countries.

Sara landfalled on Friday about 165 kilometers (105 miles) west-northwest of Cabo Gracias, on the border between Honduras and Nicaragua, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), which reported Sara will bring rain of up to 25 to 50 centimetres during its passage, and even up to 75 centimetres in isolated areas.

Venezuelan government’s statement highlights the aid given to the countries will provide any support in “solidarity that is considered appropriate in the face of any emergency situation that may arise as a result of this new natural event.”

In this regard, Venezuela expressed its solidarity and willingness to accompany the peoples and governments of Central America, especially the Republic of Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, Guatemala and Mexico.

“Venezuela remains attentive to the cooperation plans that it will determine to support in these difficult circumstances and, we reiterate our commitment to accompany the nations of the Central American region,” the statement marks.

In addition, the Bolivarian government reaffirmed that The union and solidarity between the peoples of Venezuela and Central America are “the basis for overcoming any challenge.”
