Mexico City, October 20 (RHC-PL) -- Mexican students from various colleges and universities are planning a 48-hour strike as part of a series of actions to demand that the authorities step up their investigations into the case of the 43 students who went missing from Iguala following a clash with police last month.

The decision follows a meeting by representatives of different institutions at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

They called for a global day of action on Wednesday, October 22nd and a two-day strike from that day until Thursday, the 23rd. The students also decided to launch a massive information campaign targeting school children, neighborhoods and workplaces.

Student organizers say they will hold a mass rally and enforce a one-day teachers' strike in the nation's capital.
