Havana, December 9 (RHC)-- The Israeli army has completely destroyed the health system in the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, a health sector source in the Palestinian territory said on Monday.
The director general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Muhammad Abu Salamiya, said that some 14,000 wounded and sick people are waiting to be able to go out to receive treatment abroad, but accused the neighboring nation of closing all border crossings.
Some four thousand Palestinians have lost at least one of their limbs since the beginning of the genocidal war of aggression, 14 months ago, while another two thousand have been left bedridden due to serious injuries to their nerves and spinal cord, he warned. Abu Salamiya demanded that Israel reopen all border crossings to alleviate the crisis in the territory.
Days ago, Marwan Al-Hams, director general of field hospitals, accused the Armed Forces of that nation of completely destroying health in Gaza. “The (Israeli) occupation deliberately attacks medical personnel” in the coastal enclave, under fire since October 7 of last year, he said.
More than one thousand members of the ministry, including doctors and nurses, have been killed in the territory since the beginning of the conflict, he stressed.
