London, December 15 (RHC)-- Laying flowers and toys at the gates of the British Prime Minister's Office, pro-Palestinian demonstrators are calling on British politicians to act to protect innocent lives in Gaza.
At the protest, Emma Dent Coad, a former British MP, told reporters: "It's absolutely horrific, and how anybody -- I was in parliament for two and a half years -- how anybody standing in Parliament doesn't feel that I do not understand.
Another protester spoke with the media:
"Israel has slaughtered thousands of children in Gaza with weapons originating from Britain and other Western allies. The UK's complicity doesn't stop there. We're the intelligence wing ... we supply so much intelligence to the Israelis, and some weapons, but the intelligence is the important thing, and we seem to be very happy to do that.
And we keep saying, Israel has every right to defend itself, but don't the Palestinians have a right to defend themselves?"
The protest outside Starmer’s office and residence has demanded that his government impose an arms embargo on the regime over its war crimes in Gaza.
Observers says that this protest is a snapshot of the national sentiment, reflected in the latest polls which have found the majority of Britons back an arms embargo on Israel and believe it is violating Palestinian human rights.
Additionally, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israel's Prime Minister and an amnesty International investigation has concluded Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
Another protester in London said:
"In a few days, members of the British Parliament will debate a public petition with over 100,000 signatures that calls for an immediate revocation of arms export licenses to Israel.
"As the Western world prepares to go on holiday, the purpose of this rally, as with all the previous ones, is to maintain the pressure on the government until there is a crack in the government's complicit support for the Israeli regime."
