Bogotá, October 28 (RHC-Mercopress) -- Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla will pay a nine-day visit to Colombia and Mexico, according to an announcement by the Colombian government.

The heir to the throne and the Duchess of Cornwall are due to arrive in Colombia today and will remain until November 2nd, before leaving for Mexico, where they will stay until November 5th.

“The visit will be a major boost to the bilateral relationship between the UK and these two dynamic and influential nations in Latin America,” said a Government spokesman.

In Bogota, the royal couple will be received at the presidential palace before an official banquet with President Juan Manuel Santos.

Other engagements in the Colombian capital will focus on traditional arts and crafts, historical architecture, organic food and wool, plus trade and investment.

Charles will also visit the Macarena National Park in southern Colombia. The couple will end their five-day visit in Cartagena, where Charles will deliver the concluding speech at the Health Of The Oceans international conference.

Charles, the Duke of Cornwall, and their Mexico trip begins in Real del Monte, which has historic links to the southwest English county and its mining heritage. They are to visit Mexico City for an official welcome by the president.

In Campeche, the royal visitors will visit the Edzna Maya archaeological site to see how the ruins have been restored, while in Monterrey, they will see the successful regeneration of the area's historic sites.
