Buenos Aires, Nov. 1 (RHC-Xinhua) -- Argentina has reopened its embassy in Barbados, the Foreign Ministry announced Friday, more than 20 years after closing it.
Barbadian Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Eduardo Zuain and Ambassador Diego Limeres attended the ceremony, the ministry said in a statement.
"Stuart thanked Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for her decision to reopen the diplomatic outpost and for the renewed push Argentina has given to its ties with Caribbean nations," the ministry said.
Argentina closed its embassy in the island country in 1990, though diplomatic relations were not affected.
