Lima, November 3 (RHC-Andina) -- Peruvian President Ollanta Humala has confirmed he is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pope Francis as part of a twelve-day tour through Russia, China and Italy beginning in a few days.
The first stop on the November 5th through the 16th tour includes an official visit to Russia. Later, he will head to Beijing to attend the 22nd APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum) Economic Leaders' Meeting.
The Peruvian leader said he will hold a meeting with his Chinese counterpart as he highlighted Peru is one of the few countries in Latin America that has upgraded ties to comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
“In addition to Mexico and Brazil, Peru is one of the few Latin American nations to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership with China,” he noted.
Likweise, Humala is also scheduled to fly to the Vatican in Rome, Italy to meet His Holiness Pope Francis.
The announcement was made after the head of the Peruvian state monitored the progress made on the construction works on the new hospital in Villa El Salvador town.
The health care insitution is an emergency facility that will serve a population area of 604,000 people in the southern outskirts of Peru’s capital city, Lima.
