La Paz, November 22 (PL-RHC)-- Bolivian President Evo Morales has stressed the need to end violence against women and urged women to work and stop total economical dependence on their husbands.
The head of State led the ceremony of computers' delivery to seniors students of Cobija, capital of the Amazonian department of Pando, and took the opportunity to stress the importance of putting a stop to domestic violence, but said he does not believe this circumstance is growing in recent times.
The Minister of Communication, Amanda Davila, appealed to the media to join the struggle to reduce violence against women. "It is very important media's work. We believe they are forming public opinion, and their function is to educate, to carry out adequate information so that people can see what is happening. We believe they can help in the prevention and reduction of violence," said Dávila.
The minister underlined the issue of violence is on top headlines and even entered into the political agenda of parties.
In Bolivia, nearly 100 cases of feminine homicides and 17,000 abuse complaints have been reported in the first 10 months of 2014.
