London, January 29 (RHC)-- London bus workers will stage three days of strikes next month in a row over salary and working conditions. The strikes have been organized by Unite union and are slated for for February 5th, 13th and 16th.

They come as part of a long-running campaign for a single deal covering their pay as well as working conditions. The walkout is expected to cause travel chaos for commuters, shoppers and visitors to London.

“We firmly believe that there is a simple solution to be had but sadly the refusal by the operators to engage in collective talks is risking the inevitable disruption that strike action will bring to passengers,” British media quoted Unite regional officer Wayne King as saying.

“We urge London’s bus operators to see sense and collectively engage in talks to give London’s bus workers a fair deal,” King reiterated.

Earlier this month, some 27,000 bus workers walked out for better pay and working conditions. The strike led to widespread disruption to bus services.
