Havana, August 4 (RHC-PL) –- The delegation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) and the government will restart talks on August 17th in a further effort to achieve peace in that South American nation. The guerrillas urged yesterday to deepen the significant progress achieved in the context of those talks, after considering that there is no coherence between what happens at the negotiation table and what happens in Colombia.

The insurgents reported that the parties are working on the construction of an innovative Integral System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition.

The FARC-EP said that a commission of renowned jurists was established to achieve a solid agreement on the issue of justice, and added that the measures applied to lower the intensity of the conflict set up a new atmosphere of confidence that allowed progress in those talks.

However, the guerrillas said there was a lack of coherence between what happens at the negotiation table and what happens in the Colombian territory, inferring that the Santos government says one thing in Havana and does another in Colombia.

The FARC reported that while talking of broad citizen participation and expansion of democracy, the spaces for the exercise of freedoms in Colombia are closed. The insurgent organization denounced the persecution carried out by the State to political and social opposition leaders, and criticized the role of the Attorney General's Office that it says, is walking counter to the peace process.
