Miami, August 21 (RHC) -- Hurricane Danny strengthened a bit and its maximum sustained winds increased to 140 kilometers per hour with higher gusts, according to the Warning No. 12, issued by the National Hurricane Center of the United States.

According to weather forecasters, the center of the phenomenon was located about 1,590 kilometers east southeast of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. Danny maintains a current movement towards the west-northwest, with a speed of 17 km / h and a minimum central pressure of 987 millibars.

Meteorologists say this hurricane may have some additional strengthening today, but should begin to weaken on Saturday.

The forecast for the next 48 hours is that it will continue with the same general movement in the coming days and make a turn to the west on Saturday night. Danny is a very small hurricane and its winds extend about 20 km from the center, while the winds of tropical storm force extend to 95 kilometers.
