Caracas, November 2 (PL-RHC)-- Several cultural venues in Caracas opened their doors on Sunday for the First South Biennial: Peoples for Resistance, during which 87 artists from 35 countries will raise their voice against capitalism through the visual arts.
According to Morella Jurado, head of the Arts of the Image Institute (Iartes), the event, running until February 28th 2016, has as main venue the Fine Arts Museum, located at Los Caobos Park.
Jurado, the event coordinator, said artists will express their concerns about the wellbeing and identity of the peoples through their paintings, sculptures, community interventions, video art, photographs and performances.
“Works will include topics as ecology, eco-socialism, work, traditions and gender,” she said.
The Biennial is dedicated to Palestine, as an acknowledgement of its resistance to Israel's imperialist attacks and expansionist policies.
