Kabul, January 2 (RHC)-- A deadly explosion has rocked a French restaurant popular with Afghan officials and foreign diplomats in central part of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul. The Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying that Westerners were the main target.
According to the latest figures, one person was killed and six others wounded in the attack. The Friday explosion is the second to hit the Afghan capital this week.
Afghanistan is still gripped by insecurity 14 years after the U.S. and its allies attacked the country as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. Although the 2001 invasion overthrew the Taliban, many areas across Afghanistan still face violence and insecurity.
