August 4 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Transport has announced the granting of concessionary licenses to two French firms to modernize and manage Havana’s José Martí International Airport, which receives over 50% of the country's passenger arrivals.

Following a thorough evaluation process, the French companies Bouygues Batiment International and Paris Aéroport were chosen to carry out these works. Bouygues Batiment International has vast construction experience in Cuba, while Paris Aéroport is a prestigious administrative entity, which manages important airports in France and abroad.

Cuban Deputy Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez said that the aim is to expand and modernize facilities at Havana’s José Martí International Airport, in accordance with international standards in full compliance with Cuban aviation regulations, as recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The project includes the financing and implementation of actions to improve the quality of services, as well as medium and long-term investment works in line with estimated passenger growth rates.
