Tanzania: Six Cuban Doctors Expected in Zanzibar

Zanzibar, August 12 (RHC)-- A Cuban medical brigade, made up of six doctors will depart for Tanzania later this month to support government's initiatives there to improve health services, according to Cuba's Ambassador to Tanzania, Jorge Luis Lopez Tormo.

The Cuban diplomat met Thursday in Zanzibar with the country's Vice- President, Seif Ali Iddi. He said the Cuban doctors will also help train local health personnel and the medical students. Ambassador Lopez Tormo said Cuba remains committed to supporting authorities in Zanzibar achieve its goal of having better health services.

The Second Vice-President thanked Cuba for its support, urging his people to appreciate opportunities offered by development partners.

"We are already benefiting from the support provided by Cuba," said Iddi, who recently visited Cuba. During his Cuban tour he held talks with the country's health minister on the possibility of increased health cooperation.
