Havana, January 4 (RHC) The Cuban Society of Family Medicine, a preventive medical project based on the family doctor and nurse, sent a special acknowledgement to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro on the 30th anniversary of that Cuban program, which was founded January 4, 1984.
In the message the society expresses Fidel, who launched the medical initiative, the commitment of its members to keep developing the project as the core of the Cuban health system.
The Family Medicine program has contributed to lowering infant morality rate to only 4,2 in 2013, which places Cuba among the first countries of the world with the lowest indicators in that area, which include Canada with 5 and the United States with 6, according to the Cuban Health Ministry.
The message sent to Fidel recalls the setting up for the first time at health care in the Havana municipality of Diez de Octubre of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, considered a revolution within the Cuban Revolution.
